Painting with light

For this assignment, we had to paint with light. I set my shutter speed for 10 seconds, had an ISO of 100, and an aperture of 4.5. I used my cell phone as a light source and drew some really fun designs. I really enjoyed doing this assignment.

Slide show with music

I had fun making a slide show with music. I never really got my graduation pictures developed, so I thought that making a slide show out of them would be better. I hope to use this a lot more often.

Video with Camera

For this assignment, we had to shoot video using our camera. I already knew that my camera had video, but I have never used it before until now. However, I didn't know that my camera shot in HD, which I thought was really cool. I would probably still use my video camera instead of my camera unless I didn't have my video camera on me and I still wanted to record something.

Black and White Photography

For this assignment, we had to take pictures and put them in black and white. I found out that my camera had a black and white setting, so I just took my pictures in black and white from my camera. My family and I went to a pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for halloween, so I took pictures of the pumpkins. I also set my camera to RAW as well with the pictures I took of the pumpkins.

Macro Photography

For this assignment, we had to use macro on our cameras. I like taking pictures of flowers, so I really enjoyed this assignment. I used ISO 100 outside and ISO of 800 inside. I noticed that taking pictures of high ISOs makes my pictures really noisy, so I don't really like them. I also noticed that if I zoomed in on my subject it made the picture blurry and if I kept it on wide angle the picture came out alright. I also messed with my white balance for this assignment.

Portrait lighting with artificial lights

For this assignment, I took pictures of my mom using three different types of artificial light. I used two different lamps and a flashlight. I used 1250 ISO, florescent lighting as my white balance, and 3.2 for my aperture. I used +1/3 for my exposure. What I noticed while doing this assignment was that it matters where you set the light, so that you don't have a shadow on their face.

Meramec Lobby

This was an in class assignment where we had to use the different types of exposure compensation with our cameras. Tony, our teacher, also showed us what braketing does on our cameras, where it takes 3 different shots of exposure from -2, 0, +2. I learned that my camera only goes from -1, 0, +1.

Architecture

For this assignment, we had to take pictures of architecture. I took pictures of my house. I used higher ISOs inside and lower ISOs outside. I messed around with the exposure compensation and focal length. For the outside, I used sunlight for my white balance and florescent light inside. I also used my exposure bracketing as well and noticed that it is a lot easier to shoot with that and try to find the best image. My exposure bracket only goes from -1, 0, +1. I didn't know that my camera had this feature and I thought it was pretty cool.

Landscape photos

For this assignment we had to take pictures of landscape using the different types of exposure compensations. I took pictures of Forest Park and Mastidon Park. Some pictures had a foreground, middle ground and background. I noticed that the higher the number of exposure, the lighter the picture and the lower the number of exposure, the darker the picture. I also used an ISO of 100 and 200 and sunlight as my white balancing.

Electronic Flash

For this assignment, we had to use the different types of flashes on our cameras and experiment with slow sync. flash. I used auto, slow sync., auto/red eye, and forced flash to see what that does to the picture. I noticed that my flash stopped my mom in mid jump without being blurry and on slow sync. mode it made the pictures blurry.

Photo Journalism

For this assignment, we had to take pictures of an event. Unfortunately, no one would let me use them for my project so, I had to improvise and do it myself. Therefore, I didn't have much fun with this project . However, I did get some pretty yummy cookies out of it! I also realized that it would be easier to video tape something than to take a bunch of pictures instead. I used florescent light as my white balance and my highest ISO setting for this assignment.

Portrait and ISO

I took pictures of my dogs, Toby and Fluffy for this assignment. I used low ISOs for taking pictures outside and high ISOs for taking pictures inside. I noticed the pictures that I took inside were grainy and the ones that I took outside were nice and sharp.

White Balance Assignment

Using the different presets I have noticed the difference in each of the images. The best image I thought was the one that was taken in automatic. This also showed me all the different presets that I can use on my camera.
